Ugh... Pinkly Smooth

Posted by TERRORnMAYHEM Mar. 5, 2009 @ 4:05 PM EST

So, some of you may have heard of a "new" band called Pinkly Smooth, which has two members of Avenged Sevenfold, the drummer and lead guitarist (Synister Gates, sp?). To their credit, the music is a tour-de-force of many different genres and sounds phenominal. That's not what bothers me... what does is that the VERY SAME album was released over 15 years ago by a little band called Mr. Bungle.

For those of you who question me (or whoever is even reading this?) go to Pinkly Smooth's myspace page (which is not run by the band its self) and listen to a few songs. Fun, right? Now listen to ANYTHING off of Mr. Bungle's self-titled album. Same sounds, re-composed to different tunes.

The reason I am posting this? The myspace page lists the influences as Meshuggah and Queen, and "Sounds Like," "Nothing you've ever heard." BULLSHIT- it sounds EXACTLY like Mr. Bungle. Give them a chance, hoenstly, because the music is good, but DO NOT go around acting like this is some kind of new music... Bungle did it before Pinkly, and Zappa did it before Bungle. Don't be dooped by new bands who claim to sound like "nothing else," because at this point in time, that's almost fucking impossible.
